Latvia’s Overcast Rain Unleash Black Death
From the vibrant city of Liepāja, Overcast Rain return to dominate the global metal scene with their fierce third studio album, Black Death. Set for release on April 11, 2025, via Brutal Records, this record tears through the boundaries of dark metal while capturing the band’s most powerful sound yet.
Over the years, Overcast Rain have earned international recognition. In fact, tracks like “All Hope Is Gone” stormed into the Destrokit Rock Chart Top 50 and reached the European Metal Channel rankings. Moreover, both of their earlier albums were hailed as cultural milestones and are now preserved in the National Library of Latvia—a rare distinction for any metal act.
The Evolution of Overcast Rain
After a short hiatus, Mihails Maslovs and Andris Aleksejevs reignited the band in 2018 with a heavier and more aggressive vision. Soon after, they welcomed new members and moved away from female vocals, marking a daring shift in their musical direction. Consequently, this revamped lineup stormed the stage at Bunker13 Fest and claimed second place at Fresh Blood, launching them into a new era of success.
Since then, their relentless energy has carried them across Europe and beyond. They have performed at prestigious festivals such as Dark Malta Fest, GoatHell Metal Fest, Barbar Fest, and DiFest, captivating audiences everywhere. Furthermore, they have shared the stage with metal legends including Die Krupps, Blood Red Throne, Psyclon Nine, and Ost+Front. Through these experiences, Overcast Rain have firmly established themselves as one of the most compelling live acts in modern metal.
Black Death: A New Chapter Begins
Now, Overcast Rain are set to unleash Black Death—a 13-track onslaught combining brand-new songs with remastered fan favorites. Each track reflects the band’s evolution, intensity, and dedication to pushing the boundaries of dark metal. Ultimately, this album represents both a continuation of their legacy and a bold step into their future.
